Open Pan
Rinse and soak rice for 20 minutes or more. Strain-soaked rice and add to boiling water. Cook uncovered until desired texture. Drain water from pan, cover and set aside for 5 minutes off heat.
Closed Pan
Optional for Closed Pan only: Rise and soak rice for 15 minutes. In a saucepan, bring 1.75 cups (13/4) water to a boil. For enhanced taste, add 1 Tbsp butter or oil and pinch of salt per cup of rice. Stir in 1 cup rice, cover with a tight-fitting lid, and reduce heat to simmer. Simmer for 15 minutes or until water is absorbed. Fluff with fork before serving.
Microwave
Combine 1-cup rice and 2 cups (13/4) cups water in a microwave-safe container (2 qts minimum capacity). Cover tightly with microwave-safe lid and cook on HIGH power setting for 15 minutes. Remove from microwave.
Electric Rice Cooker
Use ratio 1 cup of rice to 13/4 cups water. See rice cooker manual for specific operation.
